A Short History of Lambert Head Lodge.1947-2007

Lambert Head Lodge No.6387 was consecrated on 19th June 1947, being the daughter Lodge of Pemberton Lodge No.4686, It's Grandmother Lodge is Lindsay Lodge No.1335.  The first Lodge in Pemberton was known as Pemberton Lodge No.4686 and was consecrated on 11th February 1925 at Tower Buildings, Wigan. Their regular meetings were first held at the Pack Horse Hotel (now a supermarket) on Ormskirk Rd, Pemberton. The waiting list to join Pemberton Lodge was so long it was decided to form a new Lodge, so Lambert Head Lodge was formed.  There were 18 Founders, of which 14 of them were members of Pemberton Lodge. The name "Lambert Head" was chosen as the name of the Lodge because of its local associations, the name of a district adjoining Pemberton. Lambert Head was the name of a headland or vantage point which existed in the neighbourhood, It served as a rallying point against the Scottish raiders. The legend is that the original Lambert was a giant of a man who figured prominently among the raiders. He was ultimately captured by the defenders and beheaded. Lamberts Head thus becoming a symbol of victory. The name survived until 1930 in a tavern bearing the name and sign.

For the 50th anniversary of the Lodge in 1997 a Banner was designed by the late W/Bro.E Wigglesworth and approved by the United Grand Lodge of England. The Banner Dedication Ceremony was conducted   by  W/Bro. the Rev. Cannon J.C. Sharples P.S.G.D. Asst.Pr.G.M. and other members of the Provincial Team assisted by Lodge Members. The Banner now hangs on the wall in the Lodge Room. It displays the Lodge Crest in the centre of the Banner. The chequered pavement lies between the two great pillars placed on either side, they are surmounted by the terrestrial and celestial globes.

In 2007 Tuscan and Oak Lodge amalgamated with Lambert Head Lodge, It then became known as Tuscan Oak & Lambert Head Lodge No, 6387.
